For homeowners that rely on a fireplace as a primary or supplemental heat source during winter months, the Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends having a safety inspection and cleaning of the home’s chimney or flue vent once a year. Homeowners who routinely neglect this crucial bit of home maintenance could be at risk for dangerous chimney fires, or a build up of carbon monoxide inside a residence.
In 1983, the Chimney Safety Institute of America established a certification program in an effort to assure homeowners that a chimney sweep has attained a high level of technical expertise, and will perform his job in a thorough and professional manner. The Chimney Safety Institute of America is an accredited training school and all certified sweeps have passed a rigorous exam, which they must retake annually. Additionally, to gain their certification, technicians must participate in continuing education courses as they continue their career. Our company is proud to have earned the CSIA’s certification.
